DOUBLE PODIUMS AT THE TEMPLE OF SPEED | THRUXTON 25-26 JULY

Thruxton always delivers speed, action and great racing, and this weekend was no different for our BTCC drivers!
Before the weekend had even begun, our #77 Sam Osborne withdrew from the weekend on medical grounds after feeling unwell in the lead up to the event. NAPA Racing UK reserve driver, Senna Proctor, stepped into the car in place of Sam for the weekend.
Qualifying and the Race to Pole saw a good start to the weekend, with all four drivers inside the Top 15. Come the Race to Pole, three of our drivers made it into the Top 5 with Sutton 3rd, Cammish 4th and Proctor 5th leaving them in a strong position for the races.
Sunday morning brought in some unexpected heavy rain to start the day, luckily subsiding before any action got underway. Race 1 saw our first podium of the day, with Sutton taking the second step. Proctor sadly just missed out on the top 3 places, meanwhile Cammish found himself falling back to P7. Selby was promoted to P17 after Ricky Collard received a track limits penalty; however this was later rescinded which moved him back to P18.
Race 2 was the first of our double podiums, with Sutton taking an early lead and converting it to a win despite reporting issues on the radio. Dan Cammish made his way through the pack to take a triumphant 2nd place and his fifth podium of the season. Unfortunately, Senna was involved in contact which sadly dropped him back to 15th, joining Lewis who was unable to find his way back to the points.
Pulling the number 6 from the reverse grid draw, Ash put James Dorlin on pole. As always, Race 3 took a chaotic turn, and an early incident took our #15 driver out and ended his Sunday with suspension damage. However, for the other three, the day ended on a high. Sutton and Cammish took another double podium in 2nd and 3rd, with Proctor close behind in 5th.
Coming away from Thruxton, Ash Sutton continues to lead the championship with 284 points to Tom Ingram’s 225 (59 point lead). Meanwhile Dan Cammish sits 17 points behind Ingram with 208. Sam Osborne’s Jack Sears took a hit this weekend after being out of the car, leaving him in 4th and over 80 points behind the lead.
We now look towards Knockhill, arguably the biggest weekend of the year for NAPA Racing. Our helmet design competition has now closed, but we still have a range of ways to fundraise with us. Our iconic Knockhill Track Walk returns on Saturday 8th August, where you will receive a free highland cow sticker and Race Against Dementia pin badge for signing up.
